Rewarding UK Innovation
29 June, 2018
Working alongside Haley’s Business Advisors and Santander UK, the MaCaW Project was able to partake in an event aimed at helping SME’s to have a carbon reduction focus whilst exploring opportunities of expansion into global markets through effective research and development.
Dr Karl Williams (Director of the UCLan Centre for Waste Management) discussed how energy usage is broken down across Lancashire and where SME’s are most vulnerable to issues such as price fluctuation. With forecasts showing increasing energy costs in the future, now is the time for SME’s to act to reduce their usage and environmental burden. Working with a project such as MaCaW, we can help SME’s to reduce their carbon emissions and save money. There is also the possibility of a 50% match funded grant (up to £8k) for low carbon technologies for selected SME’s.
We really enjoyed collaborating with Haley’s and Santander at this event hosted brilliantly by Preston Grasshopper Rugby Club. It was great to see the range of support in place for expanding SME’s in a challenging European market alongside a government push for research and development in the SME sector.
“It was a good event and I now understand the Innovation Grants available and especially the Low-Carbon support highlighted by MaCaW”
